Single-use materials project
I learned that paper isn’t as easy to recycle as one would think, this is because it is a complex material and degrades in complexity and value each and every time it is recycled. This derives from the cellulose molecule, and the oxygen atom that connects them to each other. Everytime paper products are recycled this bond is destroyed and the paper overall is weaker because of it. This process is called Downcycling.
Choices you can make as a consumer are to use only recyclable materials and ones that can be recycled more than once, because not everything can be recycled indefinitely and once it can’t, it becomes trash. It is then thrown into either the landfills to produce bad methane or into the ocean to be choked on by wildlife.
In this project I learned about recycling and downcycling, single use materials, how to sort trash and why recycling is important.

For this project we were tasked with doing a full scientific presentation and problem solving senario around food, my idea was to find in what way using baking soda and butter in various tempuratures to get the best cookies possible.
